Telugu actress-turned-producer Lakshmi Manchu and her husband Andy Srinivasan are proud parents to a baby girl. The 38-year-old actress, who is the daughter of actor Mohan Babu, welcomed her bundle of joy through surrogacy.

The baby girl was born Sunday at an Anand infertility centre at 12.30 pm, and weighed more than three kilograms, according to reports.

"The surrogate mother and the baby are healthy. The entire Manchu family has gathered in Anand to witness this day," a leading daily quoted medical director of the clinic Nayna Patel as saying.

Lakshmi, Sreenivasan and the entire Manchu family are extremely excited with the entry of a new member in their family.

"God has been kind. @LakshmiManchu my darling daughter has been blessed with a baby girl through surrogacy. One of the best moments of my life (sic)," tweeted Lakshmi’s father and famed Telgu film star Manchu Mohan Babu.

Wishing her hubby on the micro-blogging website, Lakshmi Manchu wrote: "To the love of my life. May this be the happiest of birthdays. You are the wind beneath my wings."

What makes the Manchu baby girl’s birthday more special is that she came into the world on the day of Sreenivasan's birthday, which incidentally also happens to be 'Father's Day'.

Lakshmi has acted in various Telugu films such as Gundello Godaria, Basmati Blues, Doosukeltha and Chandamama Kathalu. Under her banner of Sree Lakshmi Prasanna Pictures and Manchu Entertainment, she has produced ‘Nenu Meeku Telusa’ and ‘Jhummandi Naadam’.

Her stupendously fabulous performance in Anaganaga O Dheerudu earned her The Hyderabad Times Film Awards in 2011.

Lakshmi pursued her studies in the USA, and she is recognised for her role in the American television series 'Las Vegas.'She has worked with many Hollywood stars including James Caan and Sylvester Stallone, among others.

By welcoming her daughter through surrogacy, Lakshmi has become the first actress in the South Indian film industry to become mom to a surrogate baby. However, in Bollywood she has joined superstars like Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan.
